Happy policy spring cleaning fellow Wookieepedians!
The last time the protection policy was really altered was 2012, thought it time to sort a few updates into it, since QOTD is being archived. Some proposed changes (link will be updated as needed) can be found here':
The easiest way to sum them up is:
- Swapping QOTD mention for WOTM.
- Noting that protection requests can alternatively be left in the Discord (standard practice by now).
- A note that—in cases of an upload reversion war regarding an image voted on via {{ImageVote}} in the Forum:Consensus track—these images can be upload protected to ensure the community-chosen version stays intact.
- A note that—should a user's profile and subpages be blanked with {{Inactive}} per the user page policy, the semi-protection on their pages can be removed. This one—could stay or go, but I felt it worth adding because keeping Special:ProtectedPages clean is something we sometimes do in batches nowadays and it makes it much easier to track current/valid protections if we're able to clean it off ancient userpages.
- Open to see if there's anything else we should add (like if we should formally note that page unprotections can be handled via Discord pursuant to WP:AA, or if that's just common sense).—spookywillowwtalk 22:48, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Since it's really minor stuff, tossed on the CT.—spookywillowwtalk 16:25, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
