Hey all! I have been thinking of codifying a proper policy to help better understand how the coverage on Fortnite and its games within should go. I propose to add this as a canon policy subpage, similar to the FFG policy.

This is my draft for the Fortnite coverage policy:

Due to the number of separate dedicated official experiences offered within Fortnite, some had received Star Wars content which was exclusively added in collaboration with each experience.

Content coverage

The following list specifies which Star Wars content should be covered on which article:

  • Fortnite: Character Cosmetics (Outfits (including LEGO Style), Back Blings, Pickaxes, Gliders, Contrails, Pets, Auras), Emotes, Lobby (Banners, Loading Screens, Lobby Music), Wraps, and general brief coverage of all Star Wars events on the platform.
  • Fortnite Battle Royale: NPCs (Characters, Bosses, Guards), Locations (Landmarks), Weapons, and other subjects added within the experience.
  • Fortnite Festival: Instrument Cosmetics (Basses, Guitars, Drums, Keytars, Microphones), Jam Tracks, Main Stage, Jam Stage, and other subjects added within the experience.
  • Rocket Racing: Car Cosmetics (Car Bodies, Decals, Wheels, Trails, Boosts), Tracks, and other subjects added within the experience.
  • LEGO Fortnite: NPCs (Characters, Creatures), LEGO Kits (Builds, Decor Bundles), and other subjects added within the experience.
  • Quests specified to a specific experience should only be covered in its respective article.

While some digital items, such as Jam Tracks, Outfits, and Car Bodies, can be used in multiple experiences throughout Fortnite, these separations was added to avoid unnecessary and redundant additions on multiple pages. However, the same subject should be covered in more than one of the aforementioned articles if it filled a different function and role between each experience; for example, Darth Vader should be listed in both Fortnite and Fortnite Battle Royale because it's both an Outfit and a Boss NPC, respectively.

  • Just adding on here. Let me know if there is anything else I should add or clarify! Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird black belt in card-jitsu 14:25, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
  • Based on my limited Fortnite knowledge this seems like a logical break down to me. Ayrehead02 (talk) 14:20, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
  • This is solid work, but I disagree on the location of the policy page. A subpage for this would be overkill, but I'm not even sure this is a good fit for the Canon policy, since it's mostly deal WHERE content should go. Wouldn't the layout guide be more adapted to such endeavour? NanoLuukeCloning Facility 09:18, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Ahh yeah, fair. A sub section on LG would do. Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird black belt in card-jitsu 09:17, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
    • On second thought, I think WP:N would fit best, since the proposed policy is to help better understand which subjects should be notable for which articles. lmk what you think! Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird black belt in card-jitsu 09:29, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
      • I'd again disagree, since it's not about whether video games content is notable (already covered under "Merchandise" in WP:N), but where it should lay ^^. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 12:59, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
        • I suppose a new section at the bottom of LG would do then. Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird black belt in card-jitsu 13:16, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
          • Since it's an OOU-exclusive issue, it should be on the OOU page of the LG. However, while the issue is a mix of what should go in the body and the indexing list, I think it would be better for it to be under a new section (having a main section titled "Fortnite" just doesn't feel proper), like "Miscellaneous" (taking 5th place) placed before the section on "Article footer" (moving to 6th place). • Yeah, that works. Might be a useful section if, in the future, a similar situation occurs for a different subject. Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird black belt in card-jitsu 13:54, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
  • I've added an additional subsection to better explain some exceptions that may be needed for coverage and moved one of the listed covered items. Here. Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird black belt in card-jitsu 11:27, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
    • Seems good to me. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 12:25, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
