At the moment we have a few reference magazines that we break down into multiple departments for both sources and citations. I've linked a SA (when available) that lists multiple departments of the same issue so you can see examples.
- Template:FactFile: — Looks like 8 departments? But these are designed to be taken apart and combined with other magazines of the series.
- Template:BuildFalconCite — 4 departments: Build the Falcon; Guide to the Galaxy; Secrets of the Spaceflight; Starship Fact File
- Template:BuildR2Cite — 4 departments: Build R2-D2; Building the Galaxy; Droid Directory; Understanding Robotics
- Template:BuildXWingCite — 4 departments: Build the X-wing; Creating a Starship Fleet; Starfighter Aces; Rocket Science
- Template:BustCollectionCite: Comeuppance — 3 departments: Star Wars Universe; Star Wars Universe (again); Behind the Cameras
- Template:HelmetCollectionCite: Hadrium alloy — 4 departments: Databank A-Z; Helmets; Highlights of the Saga; Weapons & Uniforms: Imperial High Command
- Template:ShipsandVehiclesCite: Tyrant (former) — 3 departments: History of the Ship; Pilots and Crew Members; Starships and Vehicles
I'm here to gauge the community's thoughts on condensing these sources into 1 item for Source section purposes and possibly citation purposes. For a magazine like Starships & Vehicles, all three sections usually revolve around the magazine's main subject, so I don't see a point in listing them in 3 different items for the source list. Likewise for Bust Collection. I kind of see value in separating the IU and OOU sections though.
But I want hear from those that have gotten more use out of these reference magazines than I have. If/when I take this to CT, I plan to have ~~lots~~ of votes between combining all or partial sections for sources/citations. NBDani (they/them)Yeager's Repairs 00:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

- As the Sources Master and the Keeper of the Engine, I'm fine with this, it (hypothetically) shouldn't be too difficult to implement consolidation logic for Sources and preserve the full templates in references; hell I can probably even throw in hiding the original page/section/etc. in a comment in the Sources section for a consolidated line. - Absolutely. Condense them, merge them, however you want to call it. - JMAS
Hey, it's me! 00:28, 3 December 2024 (UTC) - Looking at articles like standard year, it seems unnecessary to list all departments separately. Rsand 30 (talk) 00:35, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- So what'd be the idea here? To list the magazine in Sources once and then list all the appropriate departments on a single line? Cause if the idea was to drop the departments from Sources entirely I think that'd be really unhelpful to the reader imo. Imperators II(Talk) 22:29, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
