Here to close one more loophole that I've had on my bucket list for nearly a year now. So, there was this this CT and it's an amazing thing, That said, it's one of those nebulous CTs that never got codified anywhere in policy, and I wasn't really a fan of that. I also think that, instead of approving these one by one over the years, we could just put it in policy.

Hence, suggesting the addition of a "Shared images" section to be placed under the "Usage" section to read:

"Star Wars wikis included on Wookieepedia's {{Interlang}} template may request for Fandom staff to enable the shared images tool, so long as their image licensing templates specify the origin of the corresponding image on the English wiki."

The reason this is stated to be only Fandom wikis is for clarity; offsite wikis can't share images with the specific function we're referring to because it's sharing images within Fandom platform without them needing to upload them all. That said, this does specify that only ones in the Interlang template can do this…which makes sense to me, given the recent CT does indicate that not all other language wikis will be linked to for various reasons. But yeah, mainly just thinking ahead and don't really want to have to have 10+ CTs over time to codify it for each wiki, when we could just bundle it up and make it so that they (according to whatever local policies they have) can point to this and go "look, see, it's gucci."—spookywillowwtalk 21:27, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

  • To echo my comment on that CT, sounds fine to me. :P Imperators II(Talk) 21:33, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
  • Makes sense. Technically nothing should prevent non-Fandom wikis using the same feature as well, unless Fandom has altered their code to prevent it. 01miki10 Open comlink 21:37, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
    • Did ask prior to putting this up; that's indeed the case, whether by code or them not accepting the requests I'm not sure though, but nevertheless same end result (in the interest of keeping wikis on Fandom, I'm guessing).—spookywillowwtalk 22:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

  • Happy to see it being codified. Bonzane10 Sabine Starbird (holonet) 02:46, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
  • Useful feature, makes sense to ensure it's covered in policy. Zed42 Wolfpack emblem (talk) 05:57, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
