Forums > Senate Hall > SH:Age in infoboxes
Hello. I was just wondering if there's a specific reason as to why a character's age isn't mentioned in their infobox like on many other wikis. Spectritus (talk) 13:00, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- Heya. That would be because Wookieepedia treats all of Star Wars as having taken place in the past. There is no "present moment" from which to measure a character's age. OOM 224 13:09, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- I see, thanks. But what about deceased characters? Spectritus (talk) 13:15, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- We do have the death parameter to tell readers as to when a character dies. If a birth year is also available, readers can then simply subtract the years to get the character's age. Bonzane10

- Indeed, but why not include the age between brackets next to the death date (e.g. Year BBY/ABY (aged XX))? Many wikis do that. Spectritus (talk) 21:10, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- I would say it would probably be a little less neat than that - Star Wars almost never gives us birth or death dates (as opposed to just years), so it would pretty much always have to be something like an interval (aged XX-XY). Imperators II(Talk) 22:54, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- The interval value aside, the age parameter is also going to be incredibly situational as it would only work for deceased characters with both death and birth year available. Not only that, but both years would also need to be a fixed value (4 ABY) and not a year estimation (c. 4 ABY or 3-4 ABY). Bonzane10

- Understandable, but surely we could include age in infoboxes of real people like actors, writers, etc.? Spectritus (talk) 12:21, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
