Hello, all. A recent topic of disagreement in the Wookieepedia Discord has been a discussion surrounding the connection between the following media: Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Dave Filoni's upcoming movie, and the potentially-cancelled show Rangers of the New Republic, in what fans have dubbed the "Mandoverse." The Mandoverse shows are all building up to Filoni's film, in what will ultimately culminate in a loose canon adaptation of Star Wars Legends's Heir to the Empire (and perhaps the entire Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy).

The related nature of these shows has prompted conversation regarding whether these connected projects should receive a multimedia project page. While the connection between the shows cannot be denied, some believe it is preferable if the page is not made. From the discussion in Discord, the main concern seems to be with the article's name. The term "Mandoverse" is not official, but on the other hand it is extremely popular amongst fans. As there is no official term as of yet, some believe it may be preferable if we hold out on the page's creation until we are provided with a name. Other concerns included what would be considered in the page's scope.

I wrote this SH pretty fast, and so it's not very in-depth, my apologies if I missed something. So, below I'm going to open three discussions: 1) Should the page be made? 2) If we decide to make the page should we use "Mandoverse," a more encyclopedic name, or something completely different? 3) What should be included in the page's scope?

Page Creation

  • I'm very much against any creation. To me it's not a conjecture name but a conjecture concept. NBDani TeamFireballLogo-Collider(they/them)Yeager's Repairs 23:23, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Could you elaborate? AmazinglyCool Nightsisters symbol - JFO (talk) 23:31, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
      • Sorry I just saw this Amazingly, I mean that we're assigning a project and its scope ourselves, rather than LFL telling us there is a multimedia project. I hope that makes a little more sense. The words below sum up most of my feelings. NBDani TeamFireballLogo-Collider(they/them)Yeager's Repairs 17:21, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
  • I likewise agree with NBDani. It is completely conjecture that this is a multimedia project. You say "The related nature of these shows has prompted conversation regarding whether these connected projects should receive a multimedia project page." but the express purpose of Wookieepedia is to report on fact. There may be conversation surrounding it, but that does not make it a fact. Say we decided to make a multimedia project page for it, but then Disney decides to release a statement that it's actually three different multimedia projects, this would completely refute and invalidate our page and our reasoning for creating. This is just a hyperbolic example, but it illustrates perfectly why we should not go out of our way to put any community or fan interpretation on the Wook. "From the discussion in Discord, the main concern seems to be with the article's name." The fact we don't have a name further illustrates the issue that this multimedia project does not exist on paper (though it may exist in many a fans' mind, mine included). I believe you are ignoring the issue when you paint the discussion of a Mandoverse multimedia project, especially in this particular light. Though I wholly agree with you, that Disney is clearly doing a joint set of related products, this does not qualify as a multimedia project. We should be treating an conjectural terms as we did with Baby Yoda. Onyx 00:24 11 September 2023 (UTC)
  • I second everything NBDani and Onyx said. We document what official sources tell us. No official source has created the umbrella concept, let alone named it, that this page seeks to document. Asithol (talk) 00:00, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
  • As with the editors above, I fell it is too premature to engage with such concept without any official documentation supporting it. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 16:42, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
  • Some sources about these projects being connected: "while Dave Filoni's will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series" here "Filoni’s movie will pull together threads from recent Disney+ series" here and also "intersect with future stories and culminate into a climactic story event" here. So it could be in the development section of Filoni's film article, or a page about New Republic era connected media ("Interconnected New Republic stories" maybe?). • I still feel like this it's not sufficient to support a specific article, but I very much can see it be part of the movie article development section, yes. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 18:21, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

Page Naming

  • I don't have a particularly strong opinion on whether or not the page should be made, but I'm concerned about the "Mandoverse" title. It's a fan-coined term, and it has no basis on anything in-universe; if anything, it should be called the "New Republic-verse" since that's the only IU constant in all of these shows. If the argument is that Din Djarin is the only character that appears on all shows, I'll have to remind you that Ahsoka does so as well; if it is that the Mandalorian was the first show of the new era, I'll have to mention the Resistance, which, sorry to say, walked so Mando could run. Also, call it subjective but I feel like "The Mandoverse" is too silly for a page name.AxMech (talk) 01:27, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

Page Scope

  • I feel if anything is made, it should only include what has been established to be in the so-called "Mandoverse", which so far is only the shows and Filoni film, any other Mando related stuff has been added into The Mandalorian publishing program which seems a more relevant place for that for now Lewisr (talk) 21:37, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
    • I would agree, Mandalorian tie-in media wouldn't really fit into the broad Mandoverse term. This could be broadened or rather extended to only include content that relates the plot of the Mandoverse proper. AmazinglyCool Nightsisters symbol - JFO (talk) 01:57, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
