On these maps, if a world is located and shown within the borders of the Republic, CIS, Sith Empire, etc., then is it safe to say that it was member of any of these governments--71.80.172.90 04:42, October 20, 2012 (UTC)
- Probably not. We have an unofficial rule on the site that we only consider those planets officially allied if they actually appear named on the map. It's safe to say the planet fell within the bounds of whatever government it is, but there's just too much chance they could have been rogue, or undiscovered, or something like that to assume political allegiance. ~Savage

- But here, on the last section, another user said something different, that the planets in a controlled space are aligned with that organization—in this case the Separatists. Darth Pythonis (talk) 23:40, October 26, 2012 (UTC)
- No, Naru is saying the same thing I just said. If the system appears on the map, we consider it aligned with whatever territory. If we merely know the system was within a territory but it is not explicitly marked on the map, we merely say it was within the territory and make no assumptions about its alignment. ~Savage

- We know from other sources (namely the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy) that, at least in the time of the New Republic, governments controlled planets and solar systems out to a certain radius, but not the deep space between star systems. So in theory if something appeared within the territory of a certain government on a map, they need not be aligned with anyone. And, at least in 16-17 ABY, the New Republic considered it illegal to claim all planets within a given area of space.
