Hi, following the SH on the matter, proposing amendments to Wookieepedia:Social Media Team in the form of adopting this draft. The SH expounds more on the logic for these changes, but briefly to summarize:
- Where possible, we want to give more power back to the community in how the sites represent our collective image. Obviously, we can't give the logins to every editor of the site—but, we can take steps to be as transparent as possible. Guidelines explaining what the SMT's role is and what we do can better allow users to hold us accountable and make sure one person can't veto feedback.
- We want to heavily prioritize editor/user safety. By having strict guidelines for acquiring consent for any posts about individual Wookieepedians, we can prevent past abuses.
- We want to protect the site's future. If this passes, though not retroactive, any content that a Social Media Team member makes and then subsequently posts on Wookieepedia's account becomes the intellectual property/copyrighted by Wookieepedia. This will allow us to create content with Star Wars creators and be able to perpetually access and cite it.
- We want to ensure that no one person is the sole embodiment of Wookieepedia itself. The proposed guidelines for the Social Media Team encourage us to work both as a team within ourselves and alongside the rest of the site's admins, heavily discouraging both entering conflicts or issuing broad statements unilaterally.
I've got a lot of hope for what we can do going forward.—spookywillowwtalk 20:15, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Vote 2: Bluesky
This vote is contingent on the above proposal passing. I'd like to put forward that we create a Bluesky account (to be made when one of us has time). Twitter is kinda going downhill, and though still very much worth keeping due to having a lot of creators we can reach, a lot (like Pablo Hidalgo are also only on Bluesky so it'd be good to be able to reach them there.—spookywillowwtalk 20:15, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

- The copyright clause will protect all future content made by the SMT from the point this passes. But, since a batch of my own content is still live on the accounts as of now and it doesn't work retroactively, this message here will serve as my voluntary ceding of any rights to said content to the site itself.—spookywillowwtalk 20:15, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Not sure about the copyright clause as it stands. Because Wookieepedia itself isn't a legal person, any attempt to claim ownership and copyright would likely be null and void. A better solution, in my opinion, is to require SMT members to submit their content under a non-revocable license that allows any further use by other Wookieepedians. 01miki10 Open comlink 20:30, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Did inquire about this Fandom briefly during the SH process; I'm not particularly fussed either way, but this was what was recommended by them at least. We're not a person, but we're a sub-entity under Fandom. But, it was noted that we have the ownership fall to the site instead of Fandom themselves for this (in the case that the site ever migrates elsewhere), so as far as they're concerned, a statement explaining that content does not need to be removed after someone departs in a policy is enough, and would also allow us to host content or links to content without complaint from them. A lot of this content is also offsite and licensing each individual piece might be a bit tedious; if anything, putting it in the requests for user rights process (as needing to irrevocably give up rights to all future content made for...) rather than here would be better and possibly make it a condition of entry.—spookywillowwtalk 20:44, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
