Hi, per Forum:SH:LG External links guidance, forwarding a change to the main WP:LG page for the reasons outlined here:

Replace:

Official websites, social media profiles, and databases are considered a convenience, and as such, do not require the inclusion of an archival link, and should be delisted if no longer available. This does not apply to official websites associated with Lucasfilm and Star Wars products, nor to websites providing insights into an individual's creative process, such as personal blogs of Star Wars creators. If an official website responding to one of those criteria goes offline, then an archival link should be provided in the following format:
[url Official website] {{C|content now obsolete; [archiveurl backup link]}}

With:

Official websites should be listed using {{Tl|OfficialSite}} and other social media profiles should use their [[:Template:Social media citation templates|respective template]].

The result of this is essentially to bring backup links to the social profiles templates since all others do (including commercial profiles) for consistency, and doing away with the weird plainlinking precedent of the past in favor of a template that does the same thing, courtesy of Cade who made it recently. I mean, if a creator wants their dead website delisted due to it being under a name they don't go by anymore or something, that falls under other guidance—but, something going offline shouldn't be cause to automatically require delisting and to avoid archiving it, since there could be info there (archive first, ask later).—spookywillowwtalk 23:24, 28 October 2024 (UTC)

Comfortable supporting since we have existing policy that allows us to respect personal requests and since we have a social media team that can communicate with creators to perhaps preserve any information they are comfortable keeping up.
