There are several articles that have many appearances and I was under the impression that we were still using the scroll boxes but whenever I add one, one of our good friends deletes it so do we use them or not? Ugluk: Destroyer of Redlinks 18:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

- I don't see how they could hurt anyone. If the code it is written under is stable (does not crash people's machines or uninstalls Windows), it could remain. If we do decide to keep them, we should also reach an agreement on after how many sources/appearances we should use these boxes. TopAce 18:42, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Do not use them
So far, I might be the only user that is having problems with them, but still, they shouldn't be used since I (and possibly others) am having problems with them. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)22:40, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
As much as they shorten article space, it sometimes leaks into words and stuff and messes up the bottom portion of the article. like Gamorrean. It isn't how they look, for it's nicer if othrers, who don't share the privlige of using them for some odd reason (Jack and possible others) , I feel they can be left out, or add arows to them for the non-scroller(s). Jabbathehuttgartogg
23:19, 21 September 2006 (UTC)- They work fine for me, but if a sizable majority has insoluble problems, it's best we leave them off. —Silly Dan (talk) 22:24, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

00:39, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- that is the one problem i have with them also. Ugluk: Destroyer of Redlinks 00:42, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- I can easily removed the rounded corners. I just kept it because it was part of Jaymach's original code. In fact, I think that the box looks better without a border around it (see my user page).–SentryTalk 01:04, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

01:33, 27 September 2006 (UTC) - I'm quite neutral about this, but if we do decide to use the scroll boxes, we also need to decide when an appearance list becomes long enough to warrant one. For example, Ugluk added a scroll box in the Exar Kun article, but I don't think one is needed with a list of that size (so I changed it back, see here). Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes. --Tinwe 11:57, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- when it has enough appearances to occupy an entire page, its necessary. Ugluk: Destroyer of RedlinksWhine Here 22:39, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Comments
- Better to use scroll boxes than using a List page with major Appearances in the article. What is a major appearance can be a bit vague in some cases. -Finlayson 16:52, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly they are absolutely necessary but a certain user likes to vandalize pages by reverting them. Ugluk: Destroyer of Redlinks 21:48, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- Scrollboxes aren't absolutely necessary. They are however much simplier than using List pages. I wouldn't all that vandalism. -Finlayson 20:35, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

- better yet where is the scroll box in the gamorrean article? Ugluk: Destroyer of Redlinks 00:24, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps the main task should be trying to figure out *why* the scroll boxes are giving Nebulax and Jabbathehuttgartogg trouble. If the issues are repairable, then we can proceed without worrying about leaving people behind. jSarek 07:44, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Jabbathehuttgartogg isnt having trouble wiht them; he just voted no because jack "is". i dont see what the problem is, occasionally the down arrow doesnt work but that happens on regular ones also and a simply refresh fixes it. also jack is the only one who has reported trouble. Ugluk: Destroyer of Redlinks 04:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- The scroll box on Gamorrean was removed; I meant that it looked fine on the previous version. -- Ozzel 05:02, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- While I may be the only one having trouble, what if one or more people who join have problems? We can't just have scroll boxes over Wookieepedia when some might be having problems with them. That would be completely unfair. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- UNTRUE. On my monitor the scroll box was scrambling up the Gamorrean sources. The essential guide and another book's title was off to the side and fading in with the scroll box. Check the history right before I removed it. -- Jabbathehuttgartogg(Rancor pit)

The error.
- Well, for those of you who aren't Jabbathehuttgartogg or me, here's what it looks like. jSarek 22:18, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- Tried it on my other computer, which is 1400x1050, and it is messed up. So I guess that anything over 1024x768 is having problems? -- Ozzel 22:30, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- I just had a look. The reason it is doing that is because the scrollbox automatically moves itself so it is desplayed BELOW the right-floated image in the section above. As the scrollbox itself was floated to the left, it moved itself below the non-floating header for the the Sources section, therefore pushing all the content for that section out of the way. I edited Template:Scroll box to remove the "float:left" style command, so it should work better now. The only problem now is that if a floated image decends into the section containing the scroll box, the whole page is moved down to clear that image, and you get a gap at the top of the scrollbox. You should now be able to see that in the previous edit of that Gamorrean article [1]. -- beeurd talk 23:13, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- So basically, don't stick pictures next to the scrollboxes and we should be fine? Sounds good enough to me. Havac 23:17, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
