The {{Trade paperback}} template is used all across the site on a variety of articles. For some time now, it has been used on many pieces of media that technically aren't trade paperbacks. We have manga volumes like The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, Vol. 1, we have hardcover collections like Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Vol. 1, we have hardcover graphic novels like Tales from the Rancor Pit and the upcoming Tales from the Death Star. Beyond that, we have the entire line of Marvel Omnibus which is hardcover as well.

I propose that we rename {{Tl|Trade_paperback}} to {{Comic_collection}} to better fit everywhere that we use this template.

Secondly, I also suggest that we add the |media type= field to the infobox as well, so we can differentiate between hardcovers and paperbacks that use the template.

• Another issue I've noticed with this template is that if you put |isbn=none, it links it as if "none" is an actual isbn. But without, it gets listed in Category:Media without ISBN. Other templates like {{Book}} don't have that issue, so is there an easy fix for this? Rsand 30 (talk) 00:48, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

• Not to put a skank in a scud pie, but just trying to put myself in the shoes of a newer, less experienced editor trying to remember the name of the template. "What's the name of that template again?" Collection, to me, isn't that descriptive of what the template is covering. Perhaps {{ComicSeries}} or {{ComicCollection}} might be clearer. - JMAS ^{Hey, it's me!} 01:22, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
  • I thought of both of those honestly. I didn't do {{ComicSeries}} because these products aren't series, they're compilations. I almost chose {{ComicCollection}} but this template also encompasses manga collections and graphic novels. So, after all that, just went with plain ol' {{Collection}}. If others prefer your options or if someone has a better one, I'm all ears. :) Dentface (talk) 02:37, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
    • Graphic novels are still comics, and while a different style, Manga is still a type of comic. So ComicCollection would still work. - JMAS ^{Hey, it's me!} 02:45, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
