I would've started a SH but this seemed like something that should (I hope) be super cut and dry because it's either one option or the other.

Just around this time last year, we officially retired IRC—another old site relic. Quote of the Day is another official site function that hasn't had any new nominations or quotes since mid-2016, so I think we should formalize its retirement. The current main page layouts done by Cav haven't included a place for a quote of the day for quite some time, and likely won't in the future with their modernized look. There was a very brief discussion of reviving it in 2020, but ultimately, I think it best to formally shutter it since it's nice and fun in concept but, it should either be revived or die, and since it's been dormant for 8ish years at minimum, now seems the time. Also, QOTD has a somewhat interesting history, so I think it better if we start moving toward different official site functions.—spookywillowwtalk 21:31, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
