Out of Universe Index pages
Example: (Index:Star Wars Outlaws)
Out of universe index pages are an optional subpage that can be created in the Index namespace as Index:PAGENAME for any piece of media's article. These index pages can consist of three main sections: External index, Internal index, and Internal databank; All detailed below.
External index
Example: (Index:Untitled Star Wars Resistance episode (Ax Tagrin))
A single list of appearances and mentions of the piece of media in other media from the Notes and references section or External links section chronological release order with release date and without any accompanying quotes or images. Such material should be directly related to the piece of media that is the subject of the article, such as autobiographies or podcast interviews.
Internal index
A single alphabetical list of in universe subjects that appear or are mentioned in the media. Each entry will list a subject followed by an mdash; then provide information to aid a reader in locating the subject within the media. These are particularly useful for large media such as video games but can be created for any piece of media. Index articles for pieces of media like reference books which often include their own indexes can utilize and expand upon index provided by the book.
Alphabetical sorting
- Characters should be sorted by surname/family name. Example: Skywalker, Anakin
- Note that not all character's surnames are their last names. Example: Din Grogu, Din Djarin
- Sorting should ignore articles used in names. Example: Broken Hoof, The
Internal databank
A section on the index page that includes photos and screenshots of parts of the piece of media. These take the form of lists or tables which include but not limited to the screenshot, the name, and a transcription of any lore included in the screenshot. These are useful for documenting limited time events, information that may not remain available after the lifetime of a game or difficult to find information. Important: the media databank is not meant to include whole copies of a piece of media such as player handbooks or comics.
Examples from different media types
- Audiobooks — images of packaging with publication or other credit information.
- Board games and card games — sections of rule books with relevant lore.
- Books — images of publication or other credit information.
- Comics — images of publication or other credit information.
- Film — screenshots of Aurebesh and other written languages shown within the media.
- Toys — images of packaging with relavent publishing information.
- Video Games — cosmetics, codex, collectibles, events, items and quests info
(After further feedback on the discord) - ThePedantry (talk) 21:58, 18 February 2025 (UTC) This CT will also add the following bullet point to Wookieepedia:Sourcing#Exceptions list:
- Internal indexes and databanks: The internal index and databank sections of the index page of an out of universe media article, such as Star Wars Outlaws and Star Wars: Hunters, do not need to be sourced as they are self sourced to the media. This does not apply to the external index section which should still be sourced.

Oppose
- The index namespace is already used for traditional indexes on OOU pages, for example Index:Encyclopedia (StarWars.com). ThrawnChiss7

- Updated accordingly. ThePedantry (talk) 04:50, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Mainly due to the above. If its only 'Media Index' and 'Media Databank' (which should probably be de-capped anyway); leaves no room for the traditional section of noting all mags/This Week listings and etc. that OOU media might have been mentioned in. And if the format is intending to be changed as these evolve, inherently a not-evergreen policy, and ideally policies are meant to have evergreen wording.—spookywillowwtalk 17:06, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- Per my comments on the SH, this cannot be implemented without taking into account that "classic" Indices also exist for OOU subjects. We need to find a way to differentiate subject vs document indices first. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 19:09, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
