The result of the debate was Use new image #1. Tommy
OK, I am bringing forth another vote for replacing the Thrawn main image with a new one. As the darker images from the Thrawn novels seem to be preferred, can we at least perhaps agree to use a full image, without his head chopped off at the top? This new image option is from the full cover art of Thrawn: Alliances retrieved from the artist website. - JMAS

This is a hard pick but I have to go for the first image because it is clearer and brighter. I know this is not a perfect fit but hopefully a clearer Canon profile image comes up. Andykatib 08:24, June 13, 2019 (UTC)Option 2 is far too dark, and option 3 is animation, which I'm always against if there's live-action or artwork available. Personally, I think this one has been fine. Fan26 (Talk) 14:29, June 13, 2019 (UTC)- Option 2 can be brightened (as I have now done), but at at least the lighting/shading is uniform. The current image, you've got this bright blue spot on his face in the lower left quarter, and the other 3/4 of his face is in shadow. - JMAS

Hey, it's me! 06:48, June 13, 2019 (UTC) - Full discolsure: I still think both options are too dark and too close up, but since my past attempts have proven that no one wants to consider using other pics, I'll have to make do with this one. --Lelal Mekha

Talk 08:11, June 13, 2019 (UTC) - Provided it can be brightened, I think this one is the best choice. Supreme Emperor (talk) 05:32, June 14, 2019 (UTC)
- The new version of this one works. Fan26 (Talk) 09:17, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

- Cartoonish animation style aside, I don't picture Thrawn, in ANY timeline, as a habitual smiler. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 16:05, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

- And this is why we need to create rules for things. Because people will make dumb choices if left to their own devices. I was considering staying out of this vote, but since people ridiculously think that the Rebels image is the best choice here, I'm placing my support for Thrawn: Alliances for several reasons.
- While latest chronological image is an important factor, it's not the singular determinant. Ultimately, we need to choose an image that serves as the best profile headshot for the infobox. This is technically the latest chronological image for light-side Anakin, but it's obviously not the best infobox image, which is why we don't use it.
- Reader familiarity should be among the least important considerations, nor has it ever really been a factor in determining this kind of thing. Talon Karrde, Mara Jade, Daala (I could go on). None of these use the most "reader-familiar" image for these characters, but we go with the one that is the best realistic profile image, ideally representing the latest chronological version of the character. If we were to be given a realistic live-action picture of Ahsoka or Hera, for example, we're obviously going to go with that, not the more "reader-familiar" TCW or Rebels versions.
- Aesthetically, the best infobox images have white or transparent backgrounds, which should eliminate the Rebels image from consideration if for no other reason. Between the two remaining images, Thrawn: Alliances gives us the best objective choice that represents all of the points previously raised: It's the best profile headshot, because the other one cuts off the top of his head. It's the most chronologically recent image between the two. And I would also argue that it's actually more realistic than option 1 in closeup detail. Sorry for the tl;dr, but seriously...option 3 is that bad. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:15, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

- Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to go for a third option here.

- This image represents furthest along in the timeline, is the most clearly lit, and is the depiction of canon Thrawn that most readers will be familiar with. While the others might be more realistic, I'd argue the lighting on them counterbalances that benefit. Ayrehead02 (talk) 09:01, June 14, 2019 (UTC)
- Now that this option is available, I will vote for it. I think the Star Wars Rebels image is the best. Plus the first new image shows him frowning whereas the Rebels image shows him smiling. Andykatib 10:26, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

Only because I don't hate the third option added, I'm going to leave it in. But no more image options please. Keep it to these three only. - JMAS

- If we were to ever codify infobox image rules or guidelines, one of them would naturally be that we should be picking the most realistic image possible. This is a perfect example of where an animated design should be considered inferior to the more realistic artistic illustrations, especially considering that Rebels is specifically noted for its intentionally stylistic design choices. In other words, Option 3 shouldn't even be an option here. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:36, June 14, 2019 (UTC)
You never want to go overboard when brightening or you start to lose color definition. Feel free to revert the version I just uploaded, but I think it works. -Darth Culator (Talk) 16:05, June 14, 2019 (UTC)
