We are currently going to be alternating between Main Page/sky and Main Page/water each week until a consensus is reached.

Note on current status

I used the random choice tag to implement automatic rotation of Sky and Water. More precisely, when a user visits the main page, they see either with 50% probability. Maybe we can keep it like that? - Sikon 17:52, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

• I have no objections to this. Maybe add Earth as well, just for variety (and to avoid having it sitting there doing nothing)? Maybe at a later date, we can have others design more themes, and if the community approves, they could be added to the rotation as well. StarNeptune^{Talk to me!} 17:09, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Round two

Since the previous vote established no clear consensus, I decided to make a few changes. Drafts 0 and 1 received no votes and have been eliminated. It seems that the layout has been decided, only the color scheme remains unclear.

Drafts 2 and 3, as well as the current main page, have been moved to Main Page/sky and Main Page/earth, respectively (sky and earth are just reference codenames). They use Main Page/uncolored via transclusion. This won't be the case for the final main page.

You can create a new color scheme that will hopefully attract more votes than these two and include it in this poll. To do this:

• create a page called "Main Page/your version" with its sole content being: {{:Main Page/uncolored}}
• copy to the appropriate subpage and edit Main Page/sky/monobook.css or Main Page/earth/monobook.css. These files contain color definitions. It should be easy to understand.

• The "water" option has a problem: the edit link on "did you know" is hard to find (unless, I suppose, you're an experienced user and you know it's there.)           • I was involved at the naming conventions track, although that's really not an excuse. I'm not violently opposed to any of the options, so if a consensus emerges I won't vote against it. "Water" has a too bold colorscheme, like an 80s throwback. "Sickly green" ain't my cup of tea. :/ VT-16 14:28, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

    • Upon reflection, I really don't care, it was just a comfort thing. Could we save the old design somewhere other than the history? EDIT: Did so on subpage User:Erl/Old main page. • Per Erl and MandolarinWarrior. I don't see much color distinction between sky and water, so I don't really care. Sky seems to have 10 more votes than water does so I think it could be ended now if the majority were concerned to end if the need was strong. —Mirlen 00:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Since this old discussion has been resurrected for whatever reason, I suggest holding a runoff vote between Sky and Water, or barring that, how about adding Earth to the random rotation as well? StarNeptune^{Talk to me!} 19:09, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
