Hi there! I've written up the Droid racer article and NBDani has kindly constructed three animated gifs to replace three of the article's static images.

  1. I spoke with Dani before voting, but 1 and 3 aren't necessary in my opinion. I am aware I'm being a conservative-minded killjoy here, and know my protest vote is alone, but my stance is ultimately that if we use GIFs, it should be when absolutely necessary to depict something an image cannot. Gif 1 shows it transforming, which Gif 2 also does a good job of, so I am personally unconvinced it is needed. Fan26 (Talk) 02:28, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

I am aware I'm being a conservative-minded killjoy here, and know my protest vote is alone, but my stance is ultimately that if we use GIFs, it should be when absolutely necessary to depict something an image cannot. In the case of 3, frankly I am unconvinced a GIF is needed to depict a blaster firing: that is the function of any blaster, not unique to the droid fighter. I would argue the article gains more by having a static image showing what this specific rear blaster looks like than an animated GIF that obscures what it looks like by continually playing it firing.     • A bit of context for this one is that I was originally hoping for a static image that showed both the blaster and its discharge, but when I realized that a screenshot clearly showing both was out of the question, I went for the image depicting the unfiring blaster, which nevertheless left me feeling like the illustration was lacking. The gif plugs that hole very nicely, imo, and I also kinda have to disagree about the blaster itself not being visible clearly enough in it. Imperators II(Talk) 08:31, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
