As I think CC-8 pointed out a couple months back, the MOS was never updated to say that only Legends articles should always capitalize "Rebel" when referring to the Rebel Alliance when the practice was instated. This CT will fix that, so we will replace WP:MOS#Rebel and Imperial with (change in bold):

If the adjective "Imperial" is referring to the Galactic Empire, it should always be capitalized, e.g. "The Imperial base on Kejim was..." When "Rebel" is used independently, it should only be capitalized when referring to the Rebel Alliance of the Star Wars Legends continuity.

However, note that if the referent of these forms are not either of these organizations, there is no reason to capitalize: "The galaxy was in turmoil by a series of rebellions and civil wars."

Normally I'd go SH first, but since this is just codifying already widespread practice it didn't seem necessary. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 00:11, 12 March 2022 (UTC)

  • "When referring to the Rebel Alliance, only capitalize "Rebel" for Star Wars Legends articles" — might cause some confusion, since this could be interpreted as saying Canon articles should capitalise it as "rebel Alliance." I suggest rewording it to "When "Rebel" is used independently, it should only be capitalized when referring to the Rebel Alliance of the Star Wars Legends continuity."
