The result of the debate was to add a blog feed to the main page. Green Tentacle (Talk) 18:32, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Since we now have a blog, and we've voted on affiliating it with the site, I have an idea. Why don't we add an rss feed for it onto the Main Page? To give you an idea of what this could look like, I've whipped up a dummy main page [[User:Eyrezer/Blogosphere|here]], with an rss added. I've currently set it to show only the two most recent posts, but the number of entries can be varied.
At the least, the blog has a weekly post, and it has a number of monthly updates too (Full disclaimer: I contribute a weekly "Canon updates" blog with all the new Star Wars releases each week). This is significantly more frequent than our "In the news" section, which still has news items from the start of February on it. --Eyrezer 07:22, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

- Looks unobtrusive enough to me. jSarek 07:40, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Makes sense, especially because the only link to the blog is currently in the "In the news" section, and that will eventually cycle off the bottom of the list, so we need a permanent Main Page link anyway. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 16:18, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

- I like this idea, though, and no disrespect intended to this particular addition, I would warn against future installments that would only clutter the Main Page. Toprawa and Ralltiir 23:51, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Tope, though really only with the intention of being able to point back to this comment if needed later. As jSarek put it, this particular case is unobtrusive. Wildyoda 02:53, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Discussion and other options
As an aside, it would also be possible to add rss feeds for both StarWars.com and Wizards.com, if we so chose. These get summarized in the weekly Canon updates blogs, but might be useful anyway. --Eyrezer 07:22, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- It would be nice, but maybe too much... MecenarylordEnter if you dare 22:21, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I wouldn't want it to be too clogged up. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 05:07, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Isn't the blog predominantly for Wookieepedians, as opposed to readers? That's the impression I get, and I think it will develop moreso as different features and authors are introduced. Would having it on the main page, which is viewed mainly by unregistered readers, really be that helpful? -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 18:27, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- It would for me, as I have the main page saved in my favorites, so it's the first page I see when I visit the site several times a day. Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers 19:10, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
