Referring to the discussion on Talk:Tusken Sign Language and the subsequent Senate Hall thread, it has again been raised about using gifs, which are currently prohibited by the Images policy. Currently, the policy states "Animations and videos may not be uploaded.". It seems the general agreement is to tweak it to allow case-by-case use via a CT vote. In addition to the aforementioned signing, other helpful uses would include other visual movements such as military maneuvers, such as the Holdo maneuver or backwards tailslide.

Proposal is for the above rule to be updated to say "Animations and videos may be uploaded, with a Consensus Track vote started within 24 hours of the upload for the community to decide whether the file should be kept. Animations and videos without a Consensus Track vote after 24 hours will be deleted."

It should be noted that the CT will also provide an opportunity for such issues as framerate, contrast, lighting and resolution to be discussed and improved versions of the gif to be provided, if needed. Manoof (he/him/his) RainbowRebellion2 10:13, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
