Recent Trash compactor debates, including some threads started earlier this year by yours truly, have brought to light a clear problem: whereas the Notability policy contains a section on unidentified battle droids, it does not cover similar articles like unidentified clone troopers or stormtroopers, and it also does not clarify what is considered "significant dialogue". Instead, precedent has been a strong factor in deciding how these threads have ended.

The Notability policy can never cover all scenarios, but it can definitely provide better guidelines for notability; the gray zones can be fought over in individual Trash compactor threads. Nonetheless, I hereby propose that the "Battle droids" section of the Notability policy be changed to:

Battle droids, clone troopers, and stormtroopers

Articles may only be granted to unidentified battle droids, clone troopers, and stormtroopers who play a significant plot role or who have significant dialogue. Simple exclamations (example: "Run for it!") and affirmations (examples: "Roger, roger."; "Yes, sir.") are not considered significant, whereas having more than one line of dialogue is considered notable.

I think this should be further expanded to include any type of minor soldier/character. There have been recent instances of TC debates on the notability of Rebel pilots, for instance, which are currently not included in this amendment. RattsT (talk) 01:20, May 27, 2020 (UTC)
