A foil was a type of rapier, and was commonly constructed from flexisteel. Foils were often used in fencing.[1] Examples included the Swiftcut foil and the "Twenchok" foil.
Ketrian Altronel used a foil to scar Stevan Makintay's face when he intervened in a duel between her and a rival for his affections.[2]
