- "When I was just a kid, the Blobfish bought a used flyer that he made me fix—I always could figure out how a machine fit together or why it had broken. I unclogged one of the turbojets and rebuilt the other out of scrap from the front half of an airspeeder."
- ―Rey writing in her survival guide
Flyers were a type of vehicle that used two turbojets and could carry multiple individuals. During the scavenger Rey's childhood on the planet Jakku[1] following her arrival there in 16 ABY,[2] the junk dealer Unkar Plutt purchased a used flyer and made her repair it. Rey unclogged one of the vehcile's turbojets and rebuilt the other using scrap from the front half of an airspeeder. Plutt then sent six men and a hired pilot in the flyer to Carbon Ridge mountain in search of its treasure. The group took two casualties fighting dead-enders at the mountain and found no treasure, returning only with a stack of brittle stormtrooper armor. Rey later mentioned the incident and vehicle in a survival guide that she wrote[1] by 34 ABY,[3]
