- "Wait…this isn't the place I…oh no."
- ―Miril, to Chelli Lona Aphra
The Floating Catacombs were a location in the galaxy where a long, long time before[1] 4 ABY,[2] Miril, a Chadra-Fan female who led the Ascendant, encountered the Darkseekers, an organization of the Sith who hunted threats to the Sith.[1] Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,[2] after she was possessed by the Spark Eternal, archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra became trapped within her memories. During one memory, Miril rescued Aphra and attempted to take her to a location but they ended up in the Floating Catacombs, where Miril once again came face to face with the Darkseekers. Aphra and Miril fought against the Darkseekers, and in an attempt to get Miril to sync with the Spark so they could escape the memory, Aphra pretended to betray Miril to the Darkseekers. The ploy worked and Miril synced together with the Spark Eternal, which she used to mimic a thought dowser and cause the Darkseekers to turn on each other and kill each other. Once the Darkseekers were defeated, Miril and Aphra left the Floating Catacombs for the Ascendant's headquarters on Bar'leth.[1]
Behind the scenes
Jason Fry, author of the "Star Systems of the Galaxy" appendix of star systems that was released alongside the "Star Wars Galaxy Map" map on StarWars.com on June 24, 2025, stated on his personal Substack that the Floating Catacombs was among a number of locations that were intentionally unlisted due to being codenames or lacking defined coordinates.[3]
