In 44 BBY, the Jedi Knight Tahl undertook a mission to the planet Melida/Daan in an attempt to negotiate a peace settlement and end the centuries-long civil war between the native Melida and Daan tribes. The mission failed when war broke out again and Tahl was captured by the Melida and wounded, necessitating a rescue mission by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
