Fireflies were insects, capable of emitting a powerful glow.
Biology and appearances
The fireflies[3] were a type of insect with six legs, a pair of antennae, and a pair of wings.[1] During nighttime, the little critters emitted a powerful yellow glow, which lighted up their given space.[4]
History
Fireflies could be found on the planet Saleucami. One night, when Jek and Shaeeah Lawquane were playing hide and seek in the fields of their father's farm, several fireflies were hovering around the crops.[4]
Fireflies were also found in the underworld of the planet Aleen, where several harassed a wayward C-3PO before being dispersed by R2-D2 with his built-in fire extinguisher. Later, a swarm of them guided the pair of droids to the grotto of Orphne, a mysterious reptilian nymph.[5]
When Qui-Gon Jinn spoke to Yoda regarding the secret of the Force spirit process, he told Yoda the Force would guide him. The Living Force appeared to Yoda in the form of glowing fireflies and led him away.[2]
These Force fireflies later guided Ezra Bridger when he was in the Jedi Temple on Lothal.[6]
In 9 ABY,[7] fireflies were found in Survivor Salvage—a battlefield designed after the planet Hoth on one end and the planet Endor on the other—within the Grand Arena on Vespaara.[1]
