- "These vehicles—when deployed alongside stormtroopers—bring the full power of Imperial combined arms to bear."
- ―General Pitt Onoran
Exemplifying its use by deploying infantry alongside armored cavalry, the Galactic Empire heavily relied on the use of combined arms.
Combined arms was an approach to surface warfare in which multiple military types (from infantry to armored cavalry) were integrated into an operation. The Galactic Empire's army favored that strategy, which forced the enemy to defend against one type of attack while leaving them vulnerable to another.[1] For example, Major Marquand, who led the Imperial forces during the ground portion of the Battle of Endor, was familiar with combined arms attacks and cohesive cavalry tactics.[2] During the Clone Wars, the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic also used the combined arms approach. For example, it would field assault gunships fire on enemy vehicles as they delivered clone troopers to the battlefield.[3] Another example came with having clones fight alongside armored vehicles, like the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer, during battles.[4]
