Bavva was a planet[6] in the Bavva system in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories,[3] along a hyperspace route.[4] Over several months during the Iron Blockade of the sector by the Galactic Empire, a merchant on Bavva was robbed several times. The merchant then offered payment for an experienced individual to provide them personal security.[6]

A young smuggler working with the Trade Spine League sent a member of their crew to protect the merchant on Bavva in exchange for the payment.[6] When the Rebels launched a surprise attack on an Imperial outpost on Bavva, the smuggler also sent some of their hard-hitting crew there to help.[5]
