Bufopel were large-bodied humanoids

The Bufopel were a species of large-bodied sentient humanoids that were pale pink in coloration,[3] with two legs and two arms ended in stubby four-fingered hands. The species had no visible neck, instead having heads extruded from the upper portion of their thick, blubbery torsos, giving off the impression that they possessed a naturally hunched posture. These head was disproportionately small compared to their bodies, displaying small slanted eyes, tiny, exposed nostrils, and a large mouths that extended from one side of their face to the other. Bufopel could grow thick white hair that covered much of their body, portions of which extended along the face and jaw to form a distinct beard-like shape.[4] The species' immense strength made them formidable opponents capable of taking extensive physical damage.[1]

Society and culture

As a species, the Bufopel were usually considered peaceful. However, in case of conflict, they would not hesitate to unite and defend themselves.[1] The Bufopel's native language was also known as Bufopel.[5]

Bufopel in the galaxy

During the High Republic Era, specifically in 230 BBY[6] a Bufopel and their Lukovel companion were present within Vaba Blanks Midnight Den located in the Steebark District on the planet Coruscant, having watched a live performance of a band which included a human, a Harch, an Amani and two Chadra-Fan.[7]

During the Galactic Civil War, a group of warriors known as Bufopel Protectors joined the ranks of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, a movement that sought to topple the Galactic Empire and restore democracy to the galaxy.[1] In 9 ABY[8] a Bufopel rode on the same Coruscant hovertrain as Penn Pershing, who was being guided by Elia Kane to retrieve a mobile lab station. Kane made small talk with the Bufopel, complaining about Taungsdays, to which the Bufopel simply grunted in agreement.[4]

In 34 ABY,[9] the Bufopel gambler, Rigfu Urcolla, was present in the Canto Bight casino on the planet Cantonica when Resistance agents Finn and Rose Tico arrived on their mission to find the Master Codebreaker. At one point, Urcolla slammed his fists down onto a table in apparent frustration, disrupting and shaking the Troglof croupier Thamm a who was sitting on it.[3]

Behind the scenes

Bufopel first appeared in 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi directed by Rian Johnson.[3] Though not identified in the film itself, they were eventually named within the mobile game Star Wars: Commander.[1]
