A nori-inkal was a rare[1] coral-like creature[2] from Boothi IV, a location[1] in the Abrion sector of the Outer Rim.[3] It had four pink appendages with fins and two thinner appendages between them with darker tips. Several thinner red tendrils also extended from its larger appendages and from between the thinner appendages. The nori-inkal's fins secreted an oily serum that could revitalize aged skin and eliminate wrinkles.[1]

One nori-inkal was kept in water in a custom[1] aquarium[2] tank in the Olega Apothecary on the planet Olega[1] in 132 BBY.[4] When the former Jedi Verosha Aniseya entered the apothecary to speak with the criminal Qimir[5]—who was posing as a substitute for the store's owner, Catherio Para[1]—the nori-inkal flexed its appendages.[2] It continued to do so as a Jedi team led by Jedi Master Sol arrived to question Qimir.[5]

Behind the scenes

"My first ever creature design in Star Wars The Acolyte! She's from a system called Boothi IV and I can’t help but notice the coincidence!"
―Emily Booth[6]

A nori-inkal first appeared in "Revenge / Justice," the second episode of the 2024 Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: The Acolyte,[5] which aired on June 4, 2024.[7] It was identified in Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, a 2025 reference book by Pablo Hidalgo.[1] Emily Booth designed and created watercolor concept art of the nori-inkal. Booth noticed a similarity between the nori-inkal's origin point of Boothi IV and[6] her[8] own name.[6] Claire Roi Harvey was the puppeteer for the creature and was folded in a small space while putting both hands inside the nori-inkal in a butterfly shape. Neal Scanlan and Derek Arnold gave instructions into Harvey's ear, and Justin Pitkethly looked after Harvey and the puppet on set.[9]
