A kinetic capacitor was a type of capacitor that harnessed the momentum from starship maneuvers to increase the velocity of ship mounted laser cannons. The capacitor was developed in the Outer Rim Territories[1] sometime before 3 ABY.[2]
In 3 ABY,[2] Kay Vess was awarded a number of kinetic capacitors by the Miyuki Trade League after completing a smuggling contract for them.[1]
Behind the scenes
Kinetic capacitor first appeared in the "A Pirate's Fortune" expansion for the Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws,[1] which was released on May 15, 2025.[3] They were a collectable "passive system" ship upgrade that temporarily increased the damage of and removed the heat buildup of the player's ship cannons after the player performs a dodge maneuver.[1]
