Flux capacitor connectors were used on starships to collect and redirect thermal energy to ship mounted laser cannons in order to increase their effective damage. Flux capacitor connectors were adapted from astromech droid heat exchangers and were sold by Miyuki Trade League affiliated merchants for 3600 credits[1] in 3 ABY.[2]

In 3 ABY,[2] the scoundrel Kay Vess purchased a system of flux capacitor connectors for use in the Trailblazer, her EML-850 light freighter.[1]

Behind the scenes

Flux capacitor connectors first appeared the canon continuity in the "A Pirate's Fortune" expansion for the Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws,[1] which was released on May 15, 2025.[3] In the game, the connectors were an upgrade the player could purchase and equip to their ship which caused their laser cannons to generate more heat when firing but the cannons also progressively dealt more damage.[1]

Flux capacitor connectors originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in "The Package," a mini adventure published in West End Games' Twin Stars of Kira supplement for their Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, published in 1993. However in that adventure the connectors were components of a ship's hyperdrive and not related to weapon systems.[4]

The device shares its name with the flux capacitor, a time machine component from the Back to the Future franchise.[5]
