The Carlac belt was an asteroid field near the planet Carlac in the Carlac system of the Outer Rim Prefsbelt sector. In 132 BBY, the DTE-CSA-17 Calaboose prison ship Palwick exited hyperspace in the belt and collided with several asteroids, spinning out of control. Most of the prisoners on board jettisoned in escape pods in the Carlac belt before the prison ship crashed on Carlac.
Description
The Carlac belt was[1] an asteroid field[4] in the Carlac system of the Prefsbelt sector, which was part of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories,[2] falling within grid square K-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[3] The gray asteroids of the belt were located close to[5] the planet Carlac. The star system, and therefore the belt, were a part of the Entralla Route hyperspace route.[1]
History
The Palwick collided with asteroids in the Carlac belt.
In 132 BBY,[6] during the High Republic Era, the DTE-CSA-17 Calaboose prison ship Palwick exited hyperspace from the Entralla Route in the Carlac belt after a group of prisoners on board deactivated the vessel's droid crew. Upon entering the belt, the prison ship collided with[1] several[5] asteroids, causing it to spin out of control.[1] The mutinying prisoners then abandoned the ship in an escape pod, leaving behind only the prisoners Verosha Aniseya and[5] Melo Tolicus.[1] As the Palwick collided with more asteroids while drifting toward Carlac, Tolicus took the final escape pod and jettisoned into the belt, leaving Aniseya to brace herself on board the Palwick as it fell from the belt into Carlac's atmosphere, crashing on the surface.[5]
Behind the scenes
The Carlac belt first appeared in "Lost / Found,"[5] the first episode of the television series Star Wars: The Acolyte, which aired June 4, 2024, on Disney+.[7] It was first identified in Pablo Hidalgo's 2025 reference book Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide.[1]
