A Family fleet was a type of fleet that was used by the Chiss Ascendancy's families. There were restrictions on family fleets, with the 40 Great Families not being allowed to have larger warships, and the Nine Ruling Families being able to have true warships.[1] However, there where still restrictions on the size of the Ruling Families' fleets.[2] Some notable examples of family fleets where Xodlak fleet, the Pommrio fleet, Expeditionary Force Alpha[1] the Mitth family fleet and the Clarr family fleet.[2] A family could call in officers from the Ascendancy military to serve on their family fleets by a declaration of a Family emergency. This was done in around 18 BBY[3] and led to a battle between Task Force Xodlak, the Pommrio fleet, and Expeditionary Force Alpha.[1]
