The EnhanceScan general purpose scanner, also called the EnhanceScan portable scanner, was a sensor manufactured by CryonCorp. It was roughly the size of the SE-90 Structural Engineering Scanner, another product by CryonCorp.[1] In 3 ABY,[3] it was used by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Battle of Hoth against the Galactic Empire.[2]

Behind the scenes

The EnhanceScan general purpose scanner first appeared, albeit unnamed, in the 1980 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[2] It was later identified in Fully Operational,[1] a 2018 sourcebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[4] The EnhanceScan general purpose scanner's name originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology, a 1997 reference book published by Del Rey.[5]
