The Endor Gate was a black hole[2] located in the Moddell sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was located just off[3] the Bakura Trace hyperspace route[4] between the nearby Endor system and the celestial body Sanyassa.[3] One of many spatial anomalies found in the area, the black hole could easily destroy a starship or throw it off course way past Endor, out into Wild Space or the Unknown Regions.[5]

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the University of Bar'leth chartered a scientific expedition to study the Endor Gate. However, within hours of the expedition's first observations, its members were attacked by the Imperial Navy, hinting that the Empire was hiding something in the Endor system.[2]
