Emergency Shuttle Hangar

The Emergency Shuttle Hangar was a small hangar located in the upper levels of Mount Tantiss on Wayland that was originally built to serve as an emergency escape route for Galactic Emperor Palpatine while in residence.

History

The hangar served as an emergency escape route for Galactic Emperor Palpatine.^[4] It was destroyed in an attack on Mount Tantiss by the New Republic and Smugglers' Alliance in 9 ABY.^[2]

Several standard days after the destruction of the mountain, the xenoarchaeologist Garv Debble and his assistant Milanda Vorgan^[5] of the New Republic Xenoarchaeology Division^[2] undertook an archaeological expedition known as the Mount Tantiss dig.^[3] The New Republic historian Voren Na'al later mentioned the hangar in^[3] his^[6] journal.^[3]

Layout

The shuttle hangar was located in the upper levels of Mount Tantiss on the planet Wayland, below the Throne Room Complex and Royal Chambers, which could be accessed via a private turbolift and a staircase.^[4] This bay was equipped with a single specially modified Lambda-class shuttle that was known to have been equipped with a much more advanced hyperdrive (supposedly capable of reaching the x1/2 hyperdrive barrier). It was also rumored that this personal escape vessel was equipped with a cloaking device, but this was considered unlikely considering that Mount Tantiss itself only contained plans for a cloaking device instead of actual working models.^[2]
