- "What is the meaning of this?"
- ―Cair San Tekka, to Abediah Viess, upon seeing the latter had bound Plinka in electro-alloy chains
Electro-alloy was a type of heavy alloy that could be used to make chains.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] the Nihil Minister of Protection Abediah Viess took over the San Tekka family's compound on the planet Naboo and detained Plinka—a Grand Theljian snow dog owned by the physicist Xylan Graf, who had defected from the Nihil—and restrained her in electro-alloy chains. When Graf's husband Cair San Tekka returned to his family's compound, he was brought before Viess, who kept Plinka tied up between them.[1]
When Cair protested her poor treatment of the dog and purported her to be owned by himself instead, Viess proceeded to slice open part of Plinka's throat. The electro-alloy chains holding the dog shorted out as she bled and Cair rushed to comfort her. By later that evening, Plinka had been released from the chains and received limited medical attention from Cair.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY.
