Eldra Kaitis

Eldra Kaitis, a Force-sensitive Rutian Twi'lek female, was a Padawan of the Jedi Order during the twilight years of the Galactic Republic.

Biography

Prior to the Invasion of Naboo, she became a prisoner of the Xrexus Cartel. Xev Xrexus, the leader of the Cartel, intended to sell the Padawan to the highest bidder. Darth Maul, the apprentice of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, endeavored to find Kaitis in order to test his abilities against a Jedi.^[2]

During the auction, Jee Kra placed the winning bid, but Maul and his hired contingent of bounty hunters ambushed them in their Shekelesh-class freight gunship. Xrexus had secretly sabotaged the ship, forcing them to crash on moon of Drazkel.^[4]

They survived the crash, and Maul freed Kaitis to help fight the hunters who were chasing them.^[5] After this was done, Maul and Kaitis dueled each other. Despite facing a Sith Lord and being only a Padawan learner, Kaitis engaged Maul without fear and was able to fight him on an even footing before trapping Maul under a pile of rocks with a throw of her lightsaber. Maul survived this attack, however, and killed her with a single strike of his own red blade as she prepared to finish him. After the battle her blue-bladed lightsaber broke and laid with her body.^[3]

Maul reflected that Kaitis would have made a good Sith, but killed her to sate his anger and prevent the knowledge of his betrayal of Darth Sidious from spreading.^[3] Maul later used her name in the Coruscant Underworld to hire the Force-sensitive thief Zek Peiro before killing him.^[6]

Powers and abilities

Eldra Kaitis was trained in the ways of the Force by the Jedi Order. She was able to easily deflect blaster bolts back at her attackers and could easily kill multiple bounty hunters in combat. Maul believed that she would have become a Jedi Knight soon.^[5] During her fight with Maul she actually managed to push the Sith Lord on the defensive and wound him. She also displayed great skill in telekinesis by hurling multiple rocks at the Sith and by pushing him away with the Force before throwing her lightsaber at the rocks over his head causing them to collapse on him.^[3]
