"Thank you. My great-grandmother taught me how to carve. It's easier for her now that she is older, and sewing makes her joints hurt. I'm looking forward to seeing her when Cordé and I switch places in a couple of days."
―Dormé, to Ruwee Naberrie[1]

A female individual was the great-grandmother of the Naboo[1] human female[2] Dorra.[1] By 28 BBY,[3] she had taught her great-granddaughter how to carve.[1] That year,[3] Dorra began serving as a handmaiden to Galactic Republic Senator Padmé Amidala and took on the name Dormé. During a holiday, the handmaidens and Amidala visited the senator's parents at the Naberrie's home on the Mid Rim planet Naboo. While at the house, Dormé began carving with Amidala's father Ruwee Naberrie, and he complimented her carving skills. In response, Dormé thanked Ruwee and explained that she had been taught how to carve by her great-grandmother, and noted that as her great-grandmother was now older, it was easier for her to carve, stating that sewing made her joints ache. Dormé then mentioned that she was looking forward to visiting her great-grandmother a couple of days later when she swapped places with fellow handmaiden Cordé.[1]

Behind the scenes

Dormé's great-grandmother was mentioned in Queen's Shadow, a 2019 young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston as the first installment in the Star Wars: Queen's Series.[1]
