"He was the only one who ever truly understood me. Who supported me through…everything. He was a good man, and I miss him every day."
―Dorian Innes[2]

A male individual was the father of Dorian Innes, a trans male medical officer in the Republic Defense Coalition during the High Republic Era. After Innes understood the meaning behind the feeling of his body not matching who he was inside, he was reluctant to explain it to his father, afraid he would not understand. When he was ready, Innes chose to tell his father, and the two eventually found their way, with his father being supportive of him. Innes's father died[2] by 228 BBY,[1] and the medic missed him daily.[2] In that year,[1] Innes told Jedi Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo about his father when Azzazzo asked if he had ever had to face fear in his life.[2]

Behind the scenes

Dorian Innes' father was mentioned in the 2024 young-adult novel The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless, written by George Mann and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[2] Phase III.[3] In the novel, Dorian Innes tells Amadeo Azzazzo about coming out to his father, a scene Mann included as he felt it was important for people to be able to see themselves in novels.[4]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. The High Republic: Beware the Nameless takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, meaning its events must be set in that year. As The High Republic: Tears of the Nameless begins after Temptation of the Force and Beware the Nameless occurs during it, its events, by which point Dorian Innes's father died, must also be set in 228 BBY.
