The Distinguished Flight Medal was an award granted by the Galactic Empire to Lieutenant Sparda[1] in 3 ABY[2] after they led an operation to rescue over forty Imperial service members. The awarding of the medal was covered on the HoloNet News by reporter Dorna Parros, who claimed that the recipient demonstrated the Empire's courage and dedication to its members.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, the Distinguished Flight Medal was mentioned in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws.[1] The medal originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in The Star Wars Sourcebook, a 1987 rulebook for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Bill Slavicsek and Curtis Smith and published by West End Games.[3]
