Disintegrator staffs were a type of brown-shafted staff with clubbed ends.[1] In 32 BBY,[2] the Toydarian junk dealer Watto had a disintegrator staff with wrapped ends displayed on his trophy shelf of podracing memorabilia at his junkshop in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine when the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn led a group into the store looking for a T-14 hyperdrive generator. The items on Watto's shelf had been obtained in various ways, including trophies gifted to him by famous podracers and pit crews, items stolen from museums, and purchases that his agents had made at the illegal auctions traditionally held after podraces with spectacular crashes.[1]
Behind the scenes
A disintegrator staff was mentioned in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund and illustrated by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen.[1]
