A disintegrator staff was a type of staff with a brown shaft and clubbed ends. The Toydarian junk dealer Watto kept a disintegrator staff with the ends wrapped on the trophy shelf of podracing memorabilia at his junkshop in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine when Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn led a group into the store looking for a T-14 hyperdrive generator[1] in 32 BBY.[2] The items on the shelf included trophies gifted to him by famous podracers and pit crews, items stolen from museums, and purchases made by his agents at the illegal auctions traditionally held after podraces with spectacular crashes.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, a disintegrator staff was mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations. It was part of material reprinted[1] from the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund, illustrated by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen, and marked the first mention of the device in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[3]
