- "Regardless, it was decided that a collective ongoing punishment was appropriate. Dinwa Prime lay within reach of the Hydian Way hyperspace route through the Inner Rim territories. Imperial naval ships that passed along the route would often stop at the planet to test and synchronize their weapons from orbit or allow TIE pilots to practice bombing runs."
- ―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire
The Dinwa Prime Firing-Range Directive was a directive that made the planet Dinwa Prime into a firing-range for the Galactic Empire's navy as a collective punishment after its planetary governor was killed in 6 BBY by what Imperial officials claimed was a rebel sponsored by the local community. As a result of the directive, Imperial naval ships that passed along the nearby Hydian Way hyperspace route often stopped at Dinwa Prime to test and synchronize their weapons or allow TIE pilots to practice bombing runs. Over time, the planet was left in ruins. The directive was stored in the "Reprisal Activities" section of the Imperial Archives and was cited by the historian Beaumont Kin in[1] his[2] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire [1] in 35 ABY,[3] when he mentioned various atrocities committed by the Empire. Kin believed that Dinwa Prime had suffered worse than many other worlds.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Dinwa Prime Firing-Range Directive was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire states that thirty years have passed since the end of the Galactic Civil War and months have passed since the Battle of Exegol. As Star Wars: Timelines dates the end of the war to 5 ABY and the Battle of Exegol to 35 ABY, the in-universe The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire must have been published in 35 ABY.
