- "Intel is limited, but here's what we know: Separatist insurgents, armed with a battalion of battle droids, have seized the city and taken Governor Grotton hostage."
"Battle droids? Didn't they receive the shutdown order?"
"They could have been reprogrammed." - ―Commander Cody, an Imperial clone trooper, and Crosshair
A droid battalion was part of the forces defending the Desix Separatist holdout located in Desix City on Desix. The battalion was comprised of at least twenty B1-series battle droids including an OOM command battle droid and led by a T-series tactical droid reporting directly to Governor Tawni Ames. It included a specialized anti-air unit as well as at least one Armored Assault Tank Mk I and was supported by twelve BX-series droid commandos and multiple droidekas guarding the city's bell tower.[1]
Description
The Desix droid battalion was a battalion-sized formation that consisted of several battle droids that made up the Separatist Droid Army that were reactivated by governor Tawni Ames to defend the Outer Rim planet from the encroaching Galactic Empire. The battalion was made up of droid models that were utilized by the Confederacy of Independent Systems with B1-series battle droids serving as the primary infantry force for the battalion. Of those B1-series battle droids, there was at least one OOM command battle droid among them along with six B1 battle droids that were organized into an air strike team. Droidekas were also present in the battalion and fought alongside the B1s as the main force defending Desix City from Imperial forces with at least twelve BX-series droid commandos being present in the bell tower as the last line of defense in support of governor Ames. Alongside Tawni Ames herself, a reactivated tactical droid served as the second-in-command of the battalion, relaying orders to the droids and deploying reinforcements when needed. The battalion also possessed at least one Armored Assault Tank Mk I in its arsenal that was deployed to defend Desix City's outer gate.[1]
History
The Outer Rim planet of Desix had seceded from the Galactic Republic and joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems in order to ensure independence for the planet, a desire that persisted following the end of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY[3] with governor Tawni Ames reaffirming Desix's declaration of independence to the new Imperial regime. Seeking to assert its control over the Separatist world, the Empire dispatched Grotton to assume control as the governor of Desix and relive Ames of her post, arriving in a Nu-class attack/transport shuttle accompanied by six TK stormtroopers. Meeting with the Separatist governor, Grotton announced that Ames' declaration of her planet's independence had been officially denied and that he would assume her post as governor. Still refusing, Ames mobilized the battalion with several B1 battle droids emerging and surrounding Grotton and his TK stormtrooper company where they surrendered after being surrounded by a far larger force and outgunned.[1]
Grotton would be held prisoner and guarded by two battle droids where Ames confronted him and stated that he would only be free once Desix was free from Imperial rule, a demand Grotton stated would never happen and that she would lose in her defiance of the Imperial regime. Grotton's capture became known to the Empire with Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart dispatching a strike team lead by Clone Commander Cody and clone commando Crosshair to the planet to rescue Grotton and quell the Separatist uprising. The team was sent to the planet onboard Imperial Shuttle 995 under the cover of a negotiation team, however Ames had suspected that the Empire was sending a force to depose her and so the battalion was mobilzied with an air strike team shooting at the shuttle with RPS-6 rocket launchers and the Armored Assault Tank delivering the final blow that shot down the shuttle and caused it to crashland outside of the capital. A team of droids was sent to the shuttle's ruins and found only dead clone stormtroopers, however the rest of the team had survived and the droids were quickly dispatched by Crosshair while he, Cody, and all living clone stormtroopers that could fight were sent into battle against the Separatist holdout where they faced off against the air strike team and the AAT as the first line of defense. Despite being pinned down by the AAT, Crosshair was able to take it out with a well-timed shot down the tank's main cannon and caused it to blow up, clearing a path for Cody and the rest of the team.[1]
Cody and the Imperial strike team moved forward and took cover behind the wreckage of the AAT, being fired upon by the droids from above which took out several clone stormtroopers before being taken out by Crosshair. More battle droids were deployed within the city to engage the Imperial forces with several B1-battle droids being shot down by the veteran clones, however droidekas were deployed and managed to pin down the group lead by Cody and Crosshair with Wyler being killed by the droideka before being taken out by a joint effort by Crosshair and Nova with the latter throwing a droid popper to take it out.[1]

Star Wars: The Bad Batch — "The Solitary Clone"
- ↑ Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
