Senator Den Gane was a politician in the Imperial Senate of the Galactic Empire, representing the world of Roona.^[1] They had the same last name as Edcel Bar Gane, a Roonan Senator in the Senate of the Galactic Republic,^[2] who came from the same planet.^[3]

Following the Ghorman Massacre^[1] in 2 BBY,^[4] the senate held a session to discuss the events. Gane was one of several senators who spoke within the Grand Convocation Chamber as part of the day's agenda. Gane expressed frustration regarding the massacre's events and complacency of the Imperials to allow such an attack to take place.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Den Gane appeared in the ninth episode of the second season of the live-action Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor^[1] which aired on May 6, 2025.^[5] In the credits, the character is listed as "Senator Gane"; the character's full name is provided by the Aurebesh caption that appears on the monitor as they speak, which reads "SEN. DEN GANE • ROONA".^[1]

In the episode on Disney+, the subtitles erroneously attribute Senator Nico's name when Gane speaks, although the name is used correctly when Nico themselves speaks; however, Gane is explicitly identified by the previously cited Aurebesh. Complicating matters even further is that in the episode credits, which lists the characters in order of appearance, Gane is erroneously listed before Nico; but in the actual episode, Nico speaks before Gane. Both characters are performed by Caitlin Nicholas and voiced by Colin Purves.^[1]
