A Dedicated Energy Receptor (DER) was a type of sensor found almost exclusively on military starships[1] including the Galactic Republic's Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter[3] and the Galactic Empire's IGV-55 surveillance vessels[4] where it served as the primary passive sensing device for their sensor arrays. DERs could detect any electromagnetic emission within their range, including comlink transmissions, infrared, and laser light. Because of their military nature, mounting a DER on a civilian ship was generally illegal.[1]
