Dataplaques were ancient information storage devices.[1] Made up of storage rods built into a capacitance board made of precious metal, they were notably used to contain astrogational data, in which case they were called navigational dataplaques.[2]

The gangster Dryden Vos kept three finely adorned dataplaques in his personal museum onboard the star yacht First Light.[3] At least two of them were navigational dataplaques. One allegedly pinpointed the location of the long-lost Queen of Ranroon ship.[1] The other navigational dataplaque, which he had stolen from the Bureau of Ships and Services Heritage Museum on Coruscant and replaced with a forgery, was thought to have come from an old Jedi scout ship, the Permondiri Explorer.[2]

One form of dataplaque was used as records of sentencing on the planet Niamos during the Imperial Era.[4]

Around 34 ABY, the Ithorian collector Dok-Ondar kept four dataplaques on display at his store on Batuu, three of which appeared nearly identical to those that had belonged to Dryden Vos.[5]
