- "It's very…catchy."
"So's Dantari flu." - ―Kitrip Soh and Rhil Dairo, while touring the United in Song exhibit
Dantari flu was an infectious variant of the flu. During the Republic Fair on the Outer Rim planet Valo[1] in 231 BBY,[2] Kitrep Soh—son of the Republic Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh—and the reporter Rhil Dairo conversed about the United in Song musical exhibit at the event. When Kitrep expressed he felt the music was catchy, Dairo indicated that the Dantari flu shared the same trait.[1] At some point by 4 ABY,[3] the Rebel Alliance pilot Sila Kott learned about the death of her former paramour—the woman Lante. Not wanting to cry in front of her colleagues, Kott faked having Dantari flu for the day and stayed in bed, reminiscing on her and Lante's time together.[4]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, Dantari flu was first mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Dantari flu was a sickness first introduced in "Kessel: Hell in Space," a Wizards of the Coast Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game article written by Cory J. Herndon and released on Wizards.com on May 1, 2003 as part of the Planet Hoppers series.[6]
