«A ship is exiting hyperspace, sagacity. A Republic Longbeam.»
«Then intercept it, you Da-Vlunnian dimwit—blast the accursed thing to space dust!»
―Masakene and Skarabda[1]

Da-Vlunnian were a sentient species that lived in the galaxy. During the High Republic Era, one Da-Vlunnian, Masakene, served as the chief steward for Skarabda the Hutt on the planet Ballum.[1]

Behind the scenes

"One of the things I love to do when designing aliens and creatures for Star Wars is try and find weird ways for the costume to break the human form."
―Jake Lunt Davies[4]

The Da-Vlunnian first appeared in the first issue of the 2023 Star Wars: The High Republic comic series, written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Ario Anindito and Jim Towe, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on November 8 of that year.[5] The design for the species[6] originated from concept art created by Jake Lunt Davies for Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, intended to appear in the bar scene on Kijimi. The alien was designed such that its mouth was at the human performer's neck level, with the performer's head entirely above the costume's upper jaw.[4]
